ASIAN STUDIES FILM SCREENING: A Journey into the Heart of the Himalaya (Tuesday, May 15, 7-8 PM, Madison County Library-Berea)
Crossing Sacred Ground: A Journey into the Heart of the Himalaya, a documentary film by Dr. David Zurick (Eastern Kentucky University Foundation Professor of Geosciences and Affiliated Faculty of EKU Asian Studies) and Chris Radcliffe (former EKU’s University Photographer), will show at Madison County Library-Berea on Tuesday, May 15 at 7-8 PM in the Theatre. Free and open to the public. All are welcome and invited.
Crossing Sacred Groundwon the Award of Excellence at the International Film Festival for Peace, Inspiration, and Equality in Jakarta, Indonesia, and was an Official Selection at the Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival. It will screen in 2018 at mountain film festivals in Spain and South Korea. The film follows an old pilgrimage route across the Himalayas from Kathmandu, Nepal to Mount Kailash in western Tibet, and explores the changes that are taking place among some of Earth’s most beautiful and revered places. This indie film was made in collaboration with the India-China Institute, NYC, and in support of the Kailash Sacred Landscape Initiative.
